It wasn't Adolph Hitler who paid the price for WW II and his illegal war of aggression, it was the German people. We simply cannot torture and murder people on a wholesale basis without paying the butcher's bill.

Ah, but you see, we torture and murder less people than all the other countries and their dictators combined - by a huge number. Idealism of the traditional variety, that America is above it all and we do not commit the crimes of other countries and governments, is gone. In the past the battle lines were clearly drawn and the fight was always against communism, fascism and naziism (it was a mustache of a different kind) and the spread beyond their borders. America was always right simply because we were the beacon of freedom, prosperity, generosity, respect for life and an absence of graft in our legislators and bribes within our law enforcement bodies. Now, the enemy is among us, right here in numbers we do not know. There is no front where strategies can be drawn up. The enemy is among us and we do not know where they are stationed or how many of them. This war without end has to be fought with intelligence gathering and time is of the essence. But America is hamstrung by Political Correctness to a degree that places us all in harms way. Yesterday it was reported that G.I.'s were busy scraping off the American flag symbols from cans and other items used by prisoners at Guantanamo because they were "offended." Also, traditional American music played over loudspeakers has been silenced, replaced by a bland, non-offensive musak. Do you and your colleagues understand how serious this is? We have become a feminized nation, with mothers raising too many sons and the concepts of nice and fairness paralyzing our government and possibly dooming all of us.
Given the ferocity of the enemy, experts in heinous torture and wholesale murder, a little bending back of the fingers or wiring a terrorist's genitals - I'm guessing here obviously - is the least we must do to extract information. By any standard, America is the most honorable, law abiding and fair nation on earth and in history we have always helped rebuild those countries destroyed in war and conflict. God truly blessed every one of us fortunate enough to be a citizen.
It used to be chic on college campuses and amongst the intellectuals to praise communism and socialism and lambast capitalism because the former provided everything to its citizens, the latter required its citizens to work for what they got. And still, we had and have the most generous welfare/safetynet on earth for its citizens.
It is no longer chic to take the side of the enemy and verbally tear down and wish destruction of America and its beauty and generosity just because it's so.......avant garde.
Rethink your question so that it has a balance and does not identify you as a non-thinker too young to know the stupidity of the words you choose and the target of your hostility.

The war in Iraq has created more terrorists that hate America, so are we winning?

Fine, YOU go over there and tell the terrorists the same thing.

I agree. As an American we cannot lower ourselves to the level of the terrorists or we are no better than they are.
