That's the plan for Iraq, but what exactly is it. We aren't doing to good as it is, so to stay the course would mean what, 4 more years and 3000 more dead soldiers while no significant progress and civil war at hand?

It means to keep focused on our goals of training the Iraqis to handle their own affairs and hand over power to them as we do so. There is progress being made day by day. But the drive-by-media won't report any good being done there. As far as dead soldiers go, 3000 or more were lost in some battles in a single day in wars of old. I think a true civil war may occur when we do leave there. Until then, I expect there will be some small conflicts between the Sunnis and Shiites no matter what.

Staying the course means just as it says. It takes determination to win a war. We have a goal, which is to win, and we have to win this one. Make no mistake about that. All wars have their bad times, and personally I am of the mind "when the going gets tough, the tough get going" ....not "when the going gets tough, you run surrender like a bunch of girls". That is how a war is won. I can't believe we have so many sissy's in this country today. The Military believes in what they are doing, why don't you let them fight this war, support them and quit giving aid and comfort to the enemy.

You have defined stay the course exactly, Bush has failed and stay the course to have more failure. Loss of life is on both sides 2700 of our people and 10's of thousands of Iraqi have died, all because of a war based on lies.

"Stay the course" is what the administration and its supporters say in the absence of any substantive justification for continuing the current war policy.

"Cut and run," on the other hand, is the catchphrase they use to deride those who express any doubts.

It's all characteristic of a mindset that sees the world in childishly simplistic terms.

Stay the course: "I am an arrogant, stubborn asss, and if I do the right thing and change my plan, it will look as though I was wrong".

Why shouldn't he stay the course? If he listens to people like you and do what you want done, and it fails, you would STILL blame him. He might as well piss you off on his own terms.

Stay until we win or the Iraqi army is strong enough to fight on its own. There's no telling how long it might take.
