1980 Miracle on Ice - USA Hockey Team beats the Soviets and goes on the win the Gold Medal.

1998 - Perhaps the greatest year in baseball history. What seemed to be a remarkable accomplishment, Mark McGwire breaks Roger Maris's home run record. (Before the steroid issue). The New York Yankees win an incredible 125 games including the playoffs and World Series. Cal Ripken Jr plays in his 2131 game to break Lou Gehrig's record. Just an incredible season.

1947 - Jackie Robinson breaks the color barrier in baseball and goes on to win Rookie of the Year in the National League

1956 Mickey Mantle - wins the triple crown in baseball.

1961 Roger Maris breaks Babe Ruth's home run record.

1968 Mexico Olympics - more world records were broken in a single Olympics than any other. Bob Beamon long jumps 29' 2 1/2 inches to shatter the world record by more than two feet!!! Maybe the single greatest moment of the Olympics as well as sports history!

1969 New York Mets - Heavy underdogs win the World Series in 5 games against Baltimore.

1969 The Jets beat the Colts in Super Bowl III

1972 Miami Dolphins goes undefeated and win the Super Bowl.

1970's - During the decade the Pittsburgh Steelers win four Super Bowls in six years.

There are so many to pick from, but Jesse Owens in 1936 Olympics, Don Larsen's no-hitter, and Adam Vinatieri's winning FG in SB 36 come to mind.
