I just found this curse, my surname is Hylton, and from what family history I know, it's about 75% likely to be my ancestors. Anyone have any ideas how I can break this curse?
This is it in it's entirety:
"Woe woe to Hylton line, Woe be yours forever more, Ne'er in warfare shall you shine, But oft in murderspill your gore. Fallen strangers take your lands, You'll be strangers o'er the sea, For with blood you've stained your hands, Now with peace and wealth shall flee. Hylton's line dishonored falls, Your course of crime the should appalls, Your strong walls shall broken lie, From their deep holes the owlets cry, Ghosts and harpies walk your grounds, Making dismal cries and sounds. Now the house inglorious falls; Strike to earth her ancient walls; Brave the heart that now shall dare, Make his habitation there. Ghosts and goblins dance around, peace no more shall there abound."

Well, I guess you need more details. This is WHY my ancestor was cursed:
The 'Cauld Lad' was a 12 year old boy who was killed by Baron Robert Hylton when he was caught napping in hay. He was stabbed with a pitchfork and then be-headed. He then buried him in the pond. Therefore, when you spot the Cauld Lad, he is either all there, or he carries his head in is hands. It is said that blood can be seen where the Cauld Lad has wandered recently. He would terrify any owners when they had parties. His best trick was removing his head in front of them! He is said to wander up and down the old Hylton Castle Road. He sings of the time he was killed, keeping people awake. He was said to tidy the kitchen after all other servants had gone to bed, so they started to leave the kitchen spotless, to which he would just rearrange it. He would also torture the cats by tieing their tails together.

pobably an ancestor of yours committed some terrible, terrible crime, for which the family must atone. They probably stole a pig or something in olden times. Start giving people bacon.

Yes, curses are real, depending on what that person did like a crime, but it's sad that people curse and they do.
If you are Catholic, I strongly recommend having Holy Masses said for the Hylton Family Name Like "special mass intentions for Hylton Ancestry." Have at least 10 to 15 Holy Masses said.
Get a St. Benedict Medal through a Catholic store and this Saint protects against evil, withcraft, curses, and malice against family.
Put one in your house, and one outside or carry on your person.
Have a priest bless your house, or you can get some Holy Water at Church and BLessed Salt (that has been blessed by the priest) and put these in your home.
Have a picture of the Sacred Heart of Mary and Jesus in your home.
Also, pray for all the Holy Souls in Purgatory and include your ancestors. You too, can pray for your ancestors yourself, and ask God's forgiveness for them regardless if you know who did a terrible deed or not.
Here is a site dealing with generational curses:

God bless and be with you and yours.

One thing that I have found to be effective is to have a curse ploaced on the person (or in this case the sould of the person) who originally placed the curse in the first place, making acondition of THAT curse ending being that the curse on Your family being lifted. If that doesn't work, then imprisoning the spirit of the perons that placed the curse has also been efective. If you have access tot he grave site of the person that placed the curse you can use somehitng from the site, if not, then naming a sewn rag doll or other human shaped object in thier name and using that as a focus works well too.
I would go into more detail but...well...if you want more you can contact me here. Curses are of particular interest to me and I should be able to help.
And just for the record, from someone that's been involved in the mystical for over 30 years, it is the believ of the castor that makes a curse work, not the belief of the cursed. In fact it is the disbelief that makes curses effective, if you don't believe you wont do anyhting to counteract it.

My partner's ex wife died a few years ago leaving a horrible atmosphere behind, her children were left emotionnally damaged and i found myself struggling to breathe when in their company, felt my house had been invaded by something nasty and evil. I spoke to a friend who suggested to do the following: Put a raw egg in each room of the house, leave it for a week because it would attract bad thoughts/spirits? And bin it well away from the house once a week, replace it as well (Each week). She also suggested putting copper coins at each corner of my house (Outside) and finally ... Because i'm a Catholic! Spray holy water in each room and say a prayer. I cannot tell you which worked! If it was the eggs or the copper coins or the holy water or!!! The three of them but it did work! Rid the house of the bad atmosphere and my health improved. His ex was a violent woman, an alcoholic and really ... Not the kind of person anyone would want to associate with. I think you could try to do that. I know many people will make fun of your question but they have no idea what certain things can do to you! I wouldn't have believed it except ... it happened to me (When he brought her stuff in our home). So i do know and it is horrible. My best wishes to you. you are in my thoughts.

A pretty interesting curse, look up any other Hylton,s and see if they have the same. I would not let it bother you ,a curse is just words and as long as you are not paraniod about them ,they can do you no harm. Be interesting to see who gave you this and why, i would look further into ,me being a very curious sort about such things as this.

The experience related by 'ros' sounds like a haunting which is different from a curse.
- A curse is a thought form that persists until dissolved. The fact that this concerns you shows that the curse is alive and well after all these years.
- The advice is correct. Consult a qualified, practicing wytch or seer.
- If you are having difficulty sleeping, in the meanwhile, place rosemary under your pillow and/or on the windowsills of your bedroom.
Blessings on you!

Honestly, I think you're screwed... and I mean totally boned. I have had two friends both named Hylton. One was killed in house fire the other died in a tunnel collapse - the weird thing was they both died on the very same date and time except one year apart. How weird and creepy was that?

OK, your in luck.... first you need a chicken( if ya don't have one you can use KFC extra crispy) Wearing a thong.....smear peanut butter all over your body(Jiff works best) Pour some bird seed in your hair. On Midnight..during a full moon run in circles counter clock wise..holding the chicken over your head ( or the Barrel if you use KFC) Shout loudly, ghost and goblins...running around ...leave here..leave this town. ( really shout it loud) This should bring you some relief.. You'll end up loaded on Thorazine

In researching the curse, I found this:

I suggest you visit Hylton in England and make amends through gift giving.
