is there any meaning to whether you where it on the left or right thumb....

just wondering as there was an old saying that if you wore a single earring in your right ear it meant you were gay and advertising as such....not that there's anything wrong with that but just wondering.

Never heard of it being a symbol of anything. Just looks good.

For me there is symbolism for wearing a thumb ring. It means it's a ring I really like, but it's way too big to fit on any of my fingers. I have really tiny fingers so it's tough getting rings to fit sometimes. The largest ring I can wear on my fingers or thumbs without falling off is a size 6.

Its a true diva thing. Its always been taboo like we wear them on all the other fingers, why not the thumb?

I think women generally tend to do this (as I have never seen a thumb ring on a guy)....equivalent to guys and their "pinky rings" (..eeeeeww)

Oprah wears a single platinum band on her thumb, and she's a ga-zillionaire!

:)

While chatting with friends, someone commented that wearing a ring on your thumb meant you liked anal sex...

I think it just means you like rings and like to accessorize!!

That's more convention than anything else.

What about toe rings?
