you to want to volunteer? Would you volunteer if you didn't have kids in the school? Or if you went to the school when you grew up their?

I volunteered in my children's school, while they were there, for 9 years. I did the PTA thing, the room mother thing, went on field trips. I also helped tutor 2 or 3 students who were not in class with my 2 sons. (I was a stay at home mom at the time) It was a great way to meet the teachers and staff and keep up with what all was happening at the school.

But....the best and most rewarding was volunteering in the library. I started out when my children were in K and 1st grade, helping when they were scheduled to be in the library, but as they got older, I helped with other classes. I didn't think it was fair for them if I was there all the time.

I loved helping when the young students came to the library, just learning to read aand being so excited to get books. I shelved books, made bulletin boards, helped the students learn to check out and find books. It was great.

I have thought of going back to help now (my boys are in college and high school). But, I also think that it is more important for parents of current students to be involved in the school.

Yes, I volunteered because I wanted to know what was going on in my kids classes, and in the school in general. I found the whole thing to be quite fun. I was active in all the grades, from Kindergarten through Sixth Grade. (NEVER volunteer during Junior High. Your kids will be way too embarrassed to have their parents around.) I wouldn't mind being active in another elementary school, even though my kids are grown. Just haven't gotten around to doing it yet.

I don't volunteer b/c I work there, but am thankful for all of those that do as they make my job so much smoother. I will volunteer when I retire because I enjoy seeing the children learn and want to help them become life long learners.

Allow me to answe this one for you considering that it is quit easy and that I am the first and not the second or third reposnse that you receive.

Some people go are volunteers in any school, (like elementary, junior high or middle school, or high school), because they know that that they got a good education and that it would be nice to return the favor to the school.

I would say that this would be a personal preference of where one to go because all of your questions are good but seriously if you are thinking of being a teacher then get your credentials first.

If you are in high school or in college, go to counseling advisor.

good luck.

vote for me.
