Magic the gathering is the card game that started all the knock offs like pokemon and yugioh. Started is 1993 and continues to be the fastest growing card game in the world. You have cards like creature's,enchantment's,and land. Land cards, called mana,is what you use to cast everything in the game. You have black for swamps, blue for islands, green for forests, red for mountains, and white for plains. You also have instants that you can play on anyone's turn and sorcery's that can be played only on your turn. Same is true for creatures and enchantments. Lands can only be played once a turn on your turn. The basic game rules are easy to follow but the advanced and expert rules take more time to learn. You can go to the official web site: www.magicthegathering.com and find everything you need.

Magic is officially know as Magic: The Gathering. It was created by Dr. Richard Garfield and was first printed in 1993 by the now defunct gaming company Deckmaster. There are currently just over 8,000 cards in print, excluding reprints.

For alot of helpful Magic info go to http://www.wizards.com/magic and click on Basic Rulebook under the Rules area off to the side of the page.

To download a free and very good demo go to http://www.wizards.com/magic/playmagic/default.asp?dcmp=ILC-MTGCOMNEW and click on Try It. I learned to play Magic with an earlier version of the program and can vouch for its success.
