I have the greatest way to colorize my art. The problem is...I have to have at least some money to get started. I dont. I submitted my idea to Invent Tech. They really had me excited saying my product was a hit. They called me back 6 times. They shot my dream down, however when they asked me for $895 .The dude on the phone said it was for a patend attorny. The letter said it was for research. I have zero money. All I have is a creative mind, artistic talent , and hope that someday I can teach others to use my technique. You would have to see my work or the concept would seem silly. watercolors make the paper wavy and cant be erased. Pastels smear, airbrushes are loud, difficult to learn, expensive and messy. I hope to be able to make my portraits look like photos and Im close, but there are a few things that I need to change to make my "kit" work.

This is a real pickle. If you get a patent on the process you only have limited protection and any small change in the process and it will not be protected by the patent. If you have a great idea though you would want to have it released for others to use and make some money doing so.

It is unlikely that anyone will just give you money to get started. It may be that your state has a program and people with expertise to help you get started and may even have some R&D money for you is you apply. Check out their website and see what they offer. The other option is to talk to friend and relatives about your process and see if you can put together money to do your development money. This is the most common way this is done.
Be aware that at some point if you disclose to much about your process you can be ripped off. Do your reasearch carefully and do not disclose too much.

At some point you will need a business plan and a share company to handle investment from your parteners.

I'm actually going to say something you won't expect most people to say. I say that it's not wrong, as long as the amount that you're taking from the rich is tiny compared to the total amount the person has (for example, taking 100 dollars from a billionaire isn't really much, it's like stealing 1 cent from an average person). However, you should not threaten the rich person's life just to complete your task. For those of you saying "Stealing is wrong no matter what", I ask you, why? What is the reason that you believe that? Is it just an arbitrary rule? Or is there actually a rational reason for it?

I don't want to rain are your parade but in real life poor people are screwed. If you can't find a wealthy person you can trust you will probably just get taken by people who take large fees and don't deliver.
