The drive will still play dvd movie discs but it won't read cd, dvd,or dvd ram discs with ordinary data on them, the best drivers for the device are installed , has anyone got any ideas how to fix this problem

Clean the lense once

the driver might be going out. I had the same problem and thats what the computer place told me. I have a warranty so it covered a new one. They said even if its new it could be messed up. I have had my computer for 6 months. when I got it I couldnt play anything but it said it was there they replaced it. hope this helps

i might purely substitute thepersistent out for a clean one. they dont final that long and probability is you may injury the discs if ur reader doesnt function precise. plextors are the excellent -gl!

delete the drivers restart the comp and reinstall the drivers.

clear the NVRAM of the comp in BIOS.
