You're closest friend can be your worst enemy. I don't think that there can ever be a friend of all and not have any consequences.

I think it is true in reference to human beings because you can not be friends with everyone. There are some crazy and demonic people in this world, and if you befriend them you are just as crazy as them. It is OK to say one has lots of friends but there is no way to be friends with all because all people are not friendly. To have too many friends causes trouble because people who do tend to talk about the other friends or neglect one for the other. I could go on, but for the most part true a friend of all, is a friend of none.

I guess it's true, because the more friends you have the harder it is to have any close friendships with anyone, because you're always busy. Then when you really need a friend no one will be there for you.
I think it's better to have a few close friends rather than knowing a lot of people.

First, this implies that everyone is capable of giving the same level of friendship to everyone. That means that everyone would have to want to be friends with this "friend to all". It also implies that this "friend to all" had no predjudices (even against wrong). How could he defend a friend against another and keep both as friends? It just does not fly. True friendship is complicated and precious and takes TIME and EFFORT to build. One simply does not have the ability to do this with everyone.

Yes, you have a good point there. Quality of friendship is inversely proportional to the number of friends you have. We only have so much love to spread around, and we don't want to spread it too thinly. Of course, there is a balance to be made, but it can be better to have a few really good friends, than to have lots of friends who aren't really friends at all.

That is a very good question.....there are friends and there are aquaintenses(spelling)....but you can be nice to everyone but we truly only have a very few true friends in life. trying to be a friend to all is impossible!!!

I believe it because if you have so many friends you have no real friends there all fakes. Popularity points.

yes, I believe.

friendship takes time and effort. if you are a friend of all, you have no time for anyone... the more friends you have the weaker your friendship is with any individual friend

yes because if one is a friend of all then he can really not be a TRUE, or loyal friend, so really he is a friend of none.
