I hate Norton every computer Ive repaired that has had viruses had Norton installed. there are plenty of good ones out there such as F-Secure, Kaspersky but I would recommend NOD32.

Oh and ignore the virus with IE and not firefox I think hes got it confused with spyware. Virus can spread via explorer but it tends to be attached to software some of the newer ones can even spread through MP3's but switching to firefox wont stop virus's although it will make browsing safer from a lot of spyware.

You'll need to update your virus dictionary (LiveUpdate requires an internet connection). Norton is good, only if you have a valid subscription to it. I use it. They constantly find new viruses to add to the dictionary of viruses. Norton probably doesn't know about that type of virus that keeps appearing on your computer.

its a very good anti virus imo and it comes with a firewall,
for all round protection macfee is very good but conflicts with usb modems (cos not all of us can recieve broadband)

also i find that if u have viruses on ur pc then install the antivirus program the virus latches onto it (i did it myself too, i infected 2002 norton with chwin95 or the space filler virus i quarenteened it and norton with it ... and somehow managed to contain it, that pc lives to this date !!) and can cuase the program to not detect it

It is a rule of thumb that u have to keep these things up-2-date or they wont pick a damn thing up

hi, perhaps you can try Norton to remove the virus and protect your PC. but you need to pay for the software

i recommand you to use firefox with Google toolbar. firefox can disable all virus to run, because the virus can only run on IE.

besides, firefox can block any any poppus and disable any virus and adware, spyware on webpage, so, firefox is much safer than IE. as you know, most of the virus is spread throught internet and webpage.

firefox is much smaller than IE, so i run faster than IE.

download firefox for free:

To my review i never found norton antivirus to be the best cause even in my case it did fail to find virus from my comp. Which was found when i transferd file on the other comp. So i switched my antivirus utility from norton antivirus to BitDefender.

If you do the live updates on Norton IMHO its one of the best around.
If you dont do the updates then its not going to find the latest virus

I'd have to say Mcafee Security Suite is the best on the market at the moment, however you do have to put up with slow loading times but its a small price to pay for the protection you get ;o)
