Oysters are the best, but no always the most convenient source. Otherwise red meat and poultry are the main source, along with beans, nuts, certain other seafood, whole grains, fortified breakfast cereals, and dairy products. Zinc is easier to absorb if you are a non-vegetarian, as phytates, which are found in whole grain breads, cereals, legumes and other products, can decrease zinc absorption

Note: as of 1981 the FDA was recommending 15 mg/day for adults and children over age 4.

With that in mind...
Kellogg's raisin bran, 3/4 cup, 3.8 mg
A bacon cheeseburger, 5.25 mg
Alaskan king crab, 3 oz, steamed, 6.48 mg
Oysters, 3 oz, breaded & fried, 74.06 mg
Wheat germ, 1/4 cup, toasted, 4.73
Chuck roast, 3.5 oz, braised, lean, 10.27
Turkey, 3.5 oz, dark meat, roasted, no skin, 4.46
Baked beans with pork & tomato sauce, 1 cup, 14.83

If you take zinc supplements, make sure you also take a bit of copper. Zinc can also irritate an empty stomach.
