As long as you bring it up, while please and thank you are certainly nice, it would be even nicer if they would...

a) take the time to research the answer on their own first
b) include what they think the answer is
c) be specific about where they need the help (including what they think the answer is would be one way to do that) instead of just saying something like "solve this and show your work"

Because i think now a days parents rarely teached their children to say "please" when they want something, and usually parents don't notice it until its too late.. I mean small things matter.. Kids are fast learner..
though we have google.. but asking little question from parents can also build a relationship.. and slowly teach them to look for their own..

I think the absence of 'please' in homework questions could be linked to the attending of educational institutions that distribute such material ...schools arn't the best place to learn manners.
