Better to drop it than skip it. If you continue to skip it, not only are you getting further behind in art class, but the liklihood of catching up in an alternate class becomes less and less.
Your third option would be to suck it up and go to class. It might be boring, but at least you won't have to play too much "catch up," and it's only 45-60 minutes a day.

Go and see someone from the school administration. Explain that like you do here, in the human way and see what happens. After all, your education should match your interests. Meanwhile stop skipping classes. That's the easy way and easy decisions often lead to heavy consequences.
And one more thing - why do you skip it? the teacher is bad, the subject is boring for you...

You explain the situation well and appear to know and understand the rules as well. Now be prepared to pay the price for your foolishness. Cutting class is ridiculous, and having to take only three classes is even more ridiculous!! What school do you go to that has such LOW standards??
Chow!!

why would you skip one of the easiest classes there is? thats easy credit. your future is not worth throwing away for an easy grade. you will have plenty of time in your future to goof around and do fun things. dont ruin your high school graduation possibilities over some easy art class.

Talk to your guidance counsellor he/she should be able to help... but why not just finish the class??? Art is pretty much an easy A. But ask your guidance counsellor if it is too late or if there is an alternate, that is what they are there for. Good luck.

If this class is important to your overall education, you should try your best from here on in.
Maybe approach your teacher and ask for help, extra work to take home.
Bite the bullet for now and think seriously about your courses for next year.
Good luck.

why don't you just do a bad job in art class? Put no effort in and and get a bad grade and move on. It's not the end of the world.
