first off having your son in the USA automatically makes him a US citizen. i know when i had my children at the hospital they give you a bunch of papers that have to be filled out before you leave the hospital and one of those papers is for your child's birth-certificate and social security number so don't worry everything is going to be OK and congrats on the new bundle of joy you will be receiving

The other answers may not be fully correct. A child does not obtain a nationality of any country merely on the basis of his place of birth. The nationality of the parents has to be taken into consideration in deciding the nationality or citizenship of a child. prima facie, your child will be the national of the counrty from which you both belong. You are on a VISA and not US citizens. So definetely your child will not be a US citizen. You must take the Certificate of Birth from the hospital. You have to show that certificate to the concerned registration department of your country.

My experience has only been with Arizona.

The hospital will onlt provide the information to the State.

You will gat an application for a one in the paperwork when you go home.

You will need to fill it out and pay the fee and receive one in 8-12 weeks.

Hope this helps
