Algarve is a great place to be in May, probably the best month of the year. I lived there for 13 years, and I wish that people would understand that one does not say THE Algarve, the name is derived from Arabic and the Al part means THE, so please don't say THE THE Algarve. Have fun, and try to stay close to Quinta do Lago or Vale do Lobo, where hassles and mass tourism cannot invade!!

and welcome to the south of Portugal, on the south-west tip of Europe... to the Algarve, Europe's sunniest spot: a unique jewel where the finest beaches and weather on the continent meet traditional historic Portugal. Whether this is your first visit, or if you're a regular visitor or you live here, these pages will help you find the very best in a very special place.
