It should say on the bottle wether or not you can drink alcohol. This is an antibiotic so if you are going to drink I would say just a few drinks. It will not make you sick but you want the antibiotic to work and to get rid of the infection BUT this med. DOES STOP birth control. I would not recommend having unprotected sex with this because obvously if your birth control is not working there is a chance that you can get pregnant. (if you are a girl)

No problem with alcohol however note following
10% risk of photosensitivity skin reactions is of particular importance for those intending long-term use for malaria prophylaxis. Reports of GERD have been cited with the use of Doxcycline.
Unlike some other members of the group, it may be used in those with renal impairment.
Doxycycline impairs the effectiveness of many types of contraceptive pill and physicians recommend the use of barrier contraception for people taking the drug to prevent unwanted pregnancy.

It is never wise to drink alcohol with any kind of medication. Be honest with your doctor and ask him what he thinks. Sometimes a little wine is ok..but you need a professional opinion on this one.

If you crush them up finely, mix them in with the drink until they disolve completely. You will never see the difference

I took them for two months when I was in Africa and drank lots of alcohol. I didn't have any problems. You should probably be careful if you are already experiencing any side-effects.
