This is a league competition and the other team wouldn't allow me to write down my own team's scores and got angry at me when I tried, as though I wasn't trusted. I was hoping for some official rule somewhere that I could use for the next time I encounter them and this woman does this again. Her team is extremely competitive but all other teams in the league are not competitive.

It is not against bowling etiquette or rules. Some teams will just go ahead and write the scores down, and it is the discretion of the team captains to double check the score sheet anyway. It does not matter who writes the scores down, unless it is a tournament, then each bowler is responsible for their own scorekeeping.

I've been on several leagues over the years... And I actually voted myself to never write down scores, unless everyone else refuses to... Cuz I know I have bad handwriting, and nobody can tell the difference between my 4's, 7', and 9's, except for me of course!!!

Usually, just one person volenteers to write down everyone elses scores... However, like mentioned earlier, it is still your teams responsiblity to make sure scores were recorded correctly.

However, in answer to your question, if this women was already writing down the scores, you should have allowed her to finish... I dont think its quite against etiquette... If i were writing down the scores, and someone says i'd like to write down our scores, i'd let them... But truthfully, it almost sounds like your not trusting them, not the other way around... IF you trusted them, then whats the problem with them writing down your scores... Again, just double-check afterwards if it makes you feel bettter, but she should have wrote them down
