Mass is measured indirectly. It's value is the force necessary to accelerate an object at a constant rate in space- ie with no other forces acting on that object. Because of how we have set up constants, it equals our weight here on earth. Weight is a measure of the pulling force exerted on an object due to gravity. It is a product of the masses of the two objects, a constant, and a distance between the centers of the two objects. On a different planet, with a smaller or larger mass, your weight would be different, because the mass of the second object is different, but the mass of a single object is a set thing and is defined in a different way then weight, to make it a valid measurement.

To understand the differences we need to compare a few points:
1) Mass is a measurement of the amount of matter something contains, while Weight is the measurement of the pull of gravity on an object.
2) Mass is measured by using a balance comparing a known amount of matter to an unknown amount of matter. Weight is measured on a scale.
3) The Mass of an object doesn't change when an object's location changes. Weight, on the otherhand does change with location
A thing which weighs 200 kgs on earth will be a lightweight (33.)on Moon and a heavyweight on Jupiter(468 Kgs) It will give a great advantage in interplanetary sports.

Mass is an inherent characteristic of an object*, while weight is dependent on the force of gravity.
For instance, a rock will weigh more on the Earth than it does on the moon, because the force of gravity on the Earth is higher than that on the moon. But the rock's mass is the same.

Mass is the measure of matter content in the body. It does not change with place or in other words it is not depended on the gravity.
Weight is the force acting on the body. Weight changes from place to place according to the gravitational potential of that place.
Hence your weight on earth and mars will be different but the mass will be same.

Mass is how much there is of something, it is sometimes easier to think of it as the amount of particles that make up an object.
Weight is the force of gravity on an object and should really be measured in Newtons which is the unit of force.
An example of this is an astronaut on the moon, his mass (how much there is of him) remains the same, his weight however decreases because the force of gravity is less. So technically you would weigh less on the moon.

weight is the gravitational force acting on an object.
mass is constant throughout the universe, but weight varies according to the gravtational force acting.
e.g. your weight on moon would be 1/6 of your weight on earth.
but your mass will remain same on moon as well as earth.

mass is the real networth content of a portion of the matter whereas the weight is the inclusive effect of Gravity. A Tennis ball shall have different weights at Earth,Moon or Jupiter.Got it?

Mass is a scalar quantity while weight is a vector quantity.
Mass= m while Weight=m*g.Thus,mass does not depend upon accelaration due to gravity while weight depends on accelaration due to gravity.
Mass remains constant everywhere while weight varies as accelaration due to gravity changes.Eg. mass on earth=mass on moon but weight on earth =1/6 on moon as accelaration due to gravity is 1/6 on moon.
