Perhaps the cable came loose inside the computer. Either the data or power cable may have wiggled loose. That has happened to me once.

If it's an internal CD drive then the cable may be loose. Has the computer been moved around or worked on recently? That often causes that problem. If it's not a loose cable it's most likely that your drive has gone bad. It may be a software problem, but if that's the case shutting down the computer for a few minutes and rebooting should fix it.

I had this happen to me a few weeks ago . . . Go into your Device Manager. If you don't know how to get there, here's how. . . Click on "My Computer", right click anywhere in the white and click "Properties". . . Click the "Hardware" tab, and then click "Device Manager"...

.What you do is disable your CD ROM Drive. Reboot your pc. When it reboots, you go back in and enable it. Then reboot again. That will help. Good Luck
