I'm a massive NUFC fan, have been to over 100 games and season ticket for 3 years (I'm only 17 so that's not bad before anyone says) and keep the faith and optimism as long as possible but with our current squad and Freddy in charge, we're not going to be anywhere for a long time, we have an excellent midfield and cover for it, could rival the best in the Premiership and in Shay, best keeper in the league (Harper's not bad either) but our defence is mighty fragile and with Owen knackered, Ameobi held together by a piece of string and still playing, Martins unable to hit a barn door from 10 yards, can't see us winning the league for a while, a more realistic goal should be aiming to win either the League Cup, FA Cup or UEFA Cup and getting into the top 5, I think with 2 new top quality centre backs, a good left back and at least 2 TOP quality forwards, I would like to see Baines, Andrade, Mertesacker/Dawson, Klose and Villa/Trezeguet/Ashton. Obviously, this would pretty tough to achieve but if we got those players I reckon we could challenge for Champions League.
As for the initial question, I can't see us winning the title for 20 years unless we either have the greatest run of form of all time or are taken over. Sorry.

Newcastle Winning the premier league??????
When one of our children grow up to be a russian billionaire and he can buy the best players in the world.
Maybe when Arsene Wenger, Sir Alex Furgeson, & Rafa Benitez decide to forfeit all of their teams matches in the EPL and only concentrate on Champions' League.
Basically, until somebody can consistently breach the big 4 and make a strong run at the top of the table, which will inspire other great players to join the organization. Until then the boys from London, Manchester, and Liverpool will rule English Football.

1./ When they get a good manger.
2./ When they use their money to buy several good players not one player who got bought on name alone.
Owen 15 million out for too long injured, would have made more sense to have bought 2 other decent players. Martins big name from a big club but was never more than a fringe player at Inter.
I like Newcastle but they seriously need a kick up the backside about commonsense, I mean Roeders a nice guy but look what he did to West Ham did the chairman even try to get the likes of Martin O'Neill, Gerard Houllier etc. all of which could probably be got if he wanted them bad enough.

Not now, unless they are bought over by another russian tycoon with billions & billions in the bank.
Maybe they should fight for a champion league place this seasons with the big 4 team:Chelsea,Man u,Arsenal,Liverpool..Aim for a top 4 finish...
Or perhaps concentrate on winning the UEFA cup first..
Good luck

they'll never get a better chance than the end of 95/96 when Man U won on the last day of the season & the bloody cup was waiting at boro for whoever won. I'll never forget it. they've got no chance without Shearer, they have no world class players.

Leave the Geordie's alone you lot!
I think that if they do really well this season there is a chance for them to do well next year.
All the best Newcastle .
