Milan's Baning of Skinny Models?

Question

I was thinking about Milan’s recent decision to not let models that are too skinny on the stage. I agree with them on that. Why do you want to have some one that looks like nothing but skin and bones modeling your clothes? If you do then the audience is going to focus more on why does this child so desperately needs a hamburger so she can put on some pounds and look normal, more than looking at the clothes that they have on. Which we all know that if the model does not make the clothes look good then there is a big problem. I really think that the hole fashion industry has taken the hole image of being thin toooooo far that this is the result. Who agrees with me?

I think I agree with you that it is nice that they considered taking a responsible stance on the matter.

Unfortunately, since you first wrote this question, Milan has changed their minds and decided that they will not ban the underweight waif-life women from walking the runways. Guess they don't care so much after-all.

I do agree with you that the whole modeling industry has taken things out of proportion, but at the same time, I think that those girls that look up to the runway models as role models have problems beyond just how they look. It only takes a modicum of common sense to realize that they are unhealthy.

Yeah, sometimes I HAVE to agree. But think this way: Why don't they find models that are skinny in nature? I have this girlfriend of mine that's so skinny, and she eats ALOT. And clothes are for everybody, normal, fat, skinny alike. So my law, there MUST be clothes that look GOOD on somebody. Saggy ones fit the skinny, large T-shirts fit the skinny hip-hop guys and girls. But then again, back to the topic, many people may want to go on a diet to look like models, and go too far. I mean like.... Just look, man! People can be so unreasonable sometimes. Sometimes, well... I just think, perhaps skinny models will be invisible, and the clothes they're modelling will show out more....? And Milan should voice out this ban far and wide to make this point clear: Don't get yourself too skinny. Haha.

I agree with you. Milan refuses the ban now by the way or were u thinking of Madrid?. I have never met a person who looked like those models.Do you have friends that look like that? They protray unrealistic standard of beauty and image. Why would you want to dress up walking skeletons on the catwalk. I was just watching a segment about that on tv, I think it was Entertainment Tonight and they interviewed Fredricka (who used to model for Victoria Secret), says models used to weigh 135, which was a good and healthy weight for models. Now the standards have shifted. What does that image send to girls who have low self-esteem and would result in an eating disorder.

Gotta agree with you on this one. I think modeling agencies should start hiring models of all sizes. Take me for instance I am 5'3" 140 pounds bka--I am thick fine. But you don't see many thick models unless they are nude or almost there, never on the runway. I think it's time for the the agencies to wake up and realize people come in different sizes.

I agree with you. These models should be banned. They hardly eat anything in a day with a result they are putting their health at great risk. Maybe now they may not realize bacause they are getting good money. But it is like slow poision, their bodies and health is definitely going to suffer in the long run! Banning them is for their own good.

i kinda agree. when girl is too skinny it looks ugly and unhealthy. she just have to be in a good shape and that will look fine

man evy one has a dream...it aint gettin short if some one is skinny!!
