It's 75 and you don't have to claim - there's a section on the renewal form to fill in if you're going to reach that age during the year of the licence. If you pay by D/D, then they already know your age and it's done automatically for you.

its about 75 and i think then you pay £5 unless you live in sheltered accommodation (old people and disabled bungalows) with a warden then it`s £5 whatever age you are
other than that i think making people pay £125 for something they don`t even watch is taking the P___ i think paying for sky or cable is enough and they should have a way to block it of the tele if you don't want it if cable and sky can do it the only reason that they don`t is cause they're determined to make you pay through the nose

TV Stealth Tax - is payable right up till your 75 .. Do you know my honest Dad - was charged £10 - because his licence was up 2 weeks before his 75 birthday. I called him a dithering old fool for paying it.. Who watches the BBC for anything other than Spooks. I would rather through my Televisions out of the window than pay it.. Dont pay it folks it only encourages them.to ask for more..

The over 75s have to be still alive. If granny keels over and goes to heaven, you have to start paying again.

Watch out for tricks from TV Licence men "Can I speak to granny please?" "Granny has gone to the Home" And then you have to go to Court and pay the fine.

The form is normally sent out automatically.
