Horses are beautiful animals, and besides, girls like to ride things!

For freedom. Little girls must act like ladies, so society says, but with a pony they can go wherever they want and do whatever they want (so the stories say).

Little girls grow up soft, while little boys grow up tough. Ponies make little girls tough. Go to a horse show and watch a pony class/junior rider class. When those 7/8 year old little girls get tossed off their misbehaving ponies, they get right back on and tell that pony that they are going to behave and do their job.

Ponies are not by any means stupid. They are known as great babysitters who will gently teach a youngster how to ride, while making them work hard. Ponies like that are worth their weight in gold.

The relationship between a little girl and her pony is incredibly deep, just like a little boy that has grown up with his best friend, his dog. While the worth of such a relationship can not be calculated, it is in fact priceless.

As the saying goes, "There are little girls who would rather clean a stall than their room."

Ponies are little, which always appeals to little kids. I think little girls are always attracted to things that are miniatures of the grown-up version of things (i.e. a toy kitchen, vacuum, etc...). Plus ponies are so darn cute! They have big beautiful eyes and lots of hair we can brush and there are adorable action figures of ponies that we covet at the store. Besides, riding a pony looks like great excitement and freedom.

Can you tell I love ponies too? LoL

I still want a pony. I've loved horses for so long. Unfortunately my parents never let me ride. I've only been allowed to try sports like soccer and I did gymnastics for a while. I don't understand my parents, but that's a whole other story.

It depends on the country, that's certain. In Italy they don't even know what a pony is, so they certainly don't dream of one! Anyway it's a very nice animal indeed, but here they prefer dolls.

Ponies are lovable and are every girls dream! Of course, shows like My Little Pony brainwash them about how easy they are to take care of, and that they talk, and they come in magical colors, and...

Just something to ask for because they saw it somewhere. My daughter is an equal opportunity beggar. She also asks for a dog, cat, more fish, hamster (despite the fact that she's afraid of them) and a monkey. Yes, a monkey.
