I have just been researching into coils and I.U.D's, they can cause all sorts of serious problems. Infections can lead to Pelvic Inflammatory Disorder. Your best solution is to use the barrier method, condoms, diaphragms, etc. Stay clear of drugs. Your hormones sound as if they need regulating. I work with a research and development company who have answers to hormone regulation.
Good Luck

I had the mirena coil inserted nearly 4 years ago (it lasts for 5 years). I had suffered with heavy clot type periods that last 2 weeks for years and bad stomach cramps and had the Mirena coil fitted as a last ditch attempt before drastic surgery. I am so pleased with it, it has made such a difference with my life, don't worry about falling pregnant and I hardly have a period now. When I first had it fitted, it was bad, but it takes a while for your body to adjust because it is a hormonal coil.

It could be however, that your coil is not fitted properly, sometimes they do move. I went for a smear once and the Nurse could not feel it and was worried that it had dislodged, but after a visit to the family planning doctor who knew more about these coils find it straight away and even asked me if I wanted to feel to which I declined. So it could be it has just moved out of place or not inserted correctly. I can honestly say it was the best thing for me to have this type of coil fitted. My periods now last about 2 days, some months don't get one at all. If you are worried at all, then go to your Doctor or better still the Family Planning Surgery, as they are more used to these type of problems.

Don't give up just yet! The mirena can cause heavy and erratic periods for the first 6 months after insertion, then they should start to calm down and become much lighter. The vast majority of women find that their periods become lighter and much more acceptable with the mirena, and some women stop having periods altogether. If you have it removed now then you will have gone through the worst 6 months for nothing, and you will miss out on the likely benefit!

The Mirena coil may well be my first decision for you as you have been on the OCP for see you later. although you may supply the coil a minimum of six months to settle in. interior the 1st couple of months the coil can accentuate era indications and could be fairly uncomfortable, although in case you stick it out after six months you may experience the effective reward.

they say it shud usually have settled down within 3 mths. have a chat with ur dr or nurse see what ur options are. I previously had the non-hormonal coil and never had any problems but ive opted for the mirena this time and have heard nothing but horror stories :S
