I like a short-barelled 12-gauge pump shotgun with a pistol grip and "00" buckshot, and a trusty old Colt 1911 .45 with a laser sight.
A samurai sword is my last-ditch backup if I run out of bullets.

A wet sock full of ****....no just joking I prefer the Remington 870 wingmaster pump, with 00 buck. Also a fan of the M1911A1. That unmistakable sound of a round chambering is the international languge for "Go Away' and is usually followed by the unique sound of someone soiling themselves the universal language for "oops"

Now that everyone has bombarded you with, 'his favorite shooter'. I'm going to tell you that you're on the right track with the Glock Model 30. I carry a G-21 around with me all day long; and I sleep with it at night, too; but that's neither here, nor there. ALL polymer frame pistols should be, 'verified' with, at least, 300 rounds BEFORE being used for self-defense. Personally, while I own an outstanding example, I don't like to use a shotgun for home defense. (Because it's MY home!) Outside the home I would prefer to use some sort of carbine - Something that'll give me 100 yards if I need it. (SHTF, people, SHTF!)

Pretty much the same as you. I like a short-barreled 12-gauge too, but I would rather have a shoulder stock. Standard home defense load would be two 00 buck shells followed up by a flat nosed deer slug. The way I figure, if the buckshot doesn't drop an intruder after two blasts, it's time to up the ante, which a deer slug would do nicely.

Benelli Assult style short stock and long magizine 12 gauge with tactical flash light with finger switch. Several different loads OO is to strong and makes a lot of sheetrock wall stud repair. Stick to lighter loads and finish the armed robber off with my H&K P7-M13.

Unless you live in a rough neighborhood, your chances of having a home intruder are slim to none. Generally an attack dog is more than you'll need to deter intruders. They don't know you are packing, but they will know you have a dog that will wreck their day if they break in.
