NOOO.
Wikipedia information is free to take for your purposes, but who ever the writer may have placed copyrighted images for his/her article. In that case you’ll see a note of copyright details after that image. So I don’t think you can get it freely as you think.

public domain is information that has been released into the public domain, or for public use, there isnt, as far as i know, an actual public domain

Wikipedia is free to use, though im not sure about images

all information that is created, is copy rioght to the owner, so using naything, especially commercially, you would need the express permission of the owner.

There are many sites that hold royalty free images, these have had the permission of the owner to be used in any areas

cheers

No, they are not all copywrite free. You should check for each individual photo. Some photographer's have given license for anyone to use, some have not.

I released the only photo I have in Wikipedia to the public domain:

But some will not.

For cheap commercial photos, recommend istockphoto.com. Couple of bucks will go a long way.

Free means that you can use something for your OWN personal use, but if you use it for commercial use you should give credits or whatever the terms require. In this case you must credit wikipedia if you want to use their pictures for commercial purpose.
Public domain, that is really free for both commercial and personal use.

What you could do (which has worked for me), is email/contact the website in question and just ask them if you can use the pictures from this or that webpage. They'll reply either positively (if u r lucky and nice), or not..
