Because some one cleans them...I saw them the other day!!

they do, you must live in a nice area where the council give them a clean every so often.

the council or highways agency have a duty to keep them clean, can you imagine if someone had a bad accident as a result of not being able to read a warning sign or something. The council or whoever would be sued for loadsa money.

I don't know where you live, but here they do. Every winter, the salt spray forms a gray/white film on street signs. (salt highway dept puts down on roads to melt snow). Every spring, the crews go out and spray the signs down.

They do. I've had to get out of my car and clean one to make sure I was on the right road.

The Highway Management Services usually do cleaning them :)

They get washed with all the water on the road (depending on where you live)

YA THEY GET DIRTY BUT SOME SOCIAL WORKERS CLEAN THEM UP OR RAIN WASHES THEM AWAY.
