Just wondered what proportion of you use a Mac.

If you'd be so good to answer Mac or PC depending on what machine you have.

Okay - not a very exhaustive poll, but it might give an indication - and an easy 2 points to you all.

I have a home-built PC, sporting an ASUS MB in a Tenor desktop style case. It's a P4 at 3GHz. I'm using Windows 2000 Pro, with FireFox. It's got an 80GB Hard drive and 512MB of RAM. I've got a clunky old 17inch CRT monitor, used FD, used 250Zip, old speakers, old AT type keyboard via PS/2 adapter, optical mouse. All of this, mounted in a roll top desk (that can close).

Yes, I built this computer with many reused parts, stretching the imagination a bit to retain the use of this old junk. All in an effort to promote the idea to help reduce the pile of junk at the local land-fill.

But I own 17 other old computers that work. 3 others are currently turned on for other purposes. Did I mention the other 10 computer husks that await their turn in the dumpster? Maybe I will talk to a steel recycler, so that just maybe they can make another computer with this crap.

MACs enjoy a thrifty 5% market share. When I look at many website statistics, 3% MAC visitor count is typical.

I used a Mac "on the job" for a while in the late 1980s. It was a MAC II CX. (Quite the awesome rig with no software). By 1990, I was back to using PCs exclusely. By 1995, the MAC was DOOMED. In 1998, I saw Gateway computers everywhere on THIS planet. I used a Gateway at work from 1996 to 2001; a Pentium 133. Even Dell looked like a short-timer in the business back then. In the late 90s, only very high end graphics was done on a MAC. My favorite printer was forced to get a PC due to customer demands... he bought a DELL.

But the MAC is not dead yet.
