It's never okay for a man to hit a woman! Having been in a very abusive relationship, I can tell you first hand that once they hit you, if you go back to them, believe all the I'm sorrys, it'll never happen again, I don't know what got into me, I just lost control.....you will eventually become their favorite punching bag. The boss yelled at me today so I went out with the boys after work, had a few...bam. Dinner was cold, I don't like this...bam. Make the kids be quiet, I've got a headache...bam.
Run as fast as you can away from this man and don't look back. You deserve so much better than this kind of treatment, I hope you get it. Leave before he has destroyed your self esteem completely. I wish I had, it took years of therapy to get it back.
GOOD LUCK!

I am firmly against abusive relationships, and in most cases doubt that the amn will be any different in the future.
but you have not given all the details, i have heard of women who also abuse their partners and that is equally wrong and worse in some ways , because she knows in this day and age that men are going to get the drilling for it.
Basically any relationship where there has been these tendencies is not a healthy one, and like so many abused people have said before, they saw the little signs and did not take heed , until they were so sucked into the way of life , that some started belieivng that they deserved it.. I was reading about Mark Thatcher's wife who said that he had physically abused her by throwing a pen or pencil at her, but that he never ever did that or other ohysical abuse again in their entire marriage. I hope she was telling the truth.

Its never ever ok for a man to hit a woman. & yes if they do it once and get away with it they'll do it again. and again. they have no reason not to if there's no comeback. ask any abused wife and they'll all say the same... it never stops after just one. they believed things would change, it'd never happen again, etc. etc. etc. but the first hit is just a taste of things to come. it's never ok for anyone to ever hit anyone else - but in a close relationship it's not just a slap but the beginnings of spousal abuse and a life of misery. take care.

there is absolutely no justification for hitting a women as a matter of fact they will hit on a women before they even try to hit on a man because they they think they can get away with it and most of the time it's hard for a women to try to overpower a man.it gives them a sense of power over the opposite sex.makes them feel dominate.if a man ever hits you don't hesitate call the police an have them arrested because they will do it again.if you don't the next time you may not be able to get up.some women put up with it because they love the person so much but they keep coming back for more.what does it take to realized they could get seriously hurt ending up in the hospital with permanent damage to their body .take care and good luck pete

A man absolutely does not have any right to hit a woman. And if ever a man hits you, you bet he'll do that again. Just leave him and find someone better.

If the woman is as strong as the man, if he is approached by a woman with a weapon and she may intend to use it, or she is absolutly determined to hurt him any way she can. Other than that never, best just restrain them if even thats necessary. Most wife-beaters are *****'s that are afraid of people their own size so they make sure they can vent their rage on someone less likely to hurt them back, personally I think they should spend 3 weeks in jail, sharing a cell with a 7foot tall bodybuilder that just hates wife-beaters.
Oh and if they done it once they probably will again.

As always it depends n the situation. I think that it is perfectly acceptable to hit a woman in self-defense. (i.e. a woman trys to stab you with a knife, abduct one of your kids) In a self-defense situation, the rule is to survive. It doesn't matter if the attacker is male or female. Now in relationships, hitting is abuse. Abuse is a serious issue and if someone is abusive they need to get professional help and be held accountable for their actions. Most (but not all) abusive people (male or female) do not change. Intensive therapy can make a difference IF THE PERSON WANTS TO CHANGE and makes an effort to do so.

If the hitting is done in anger it is never ok for either the man or the woman to hit. They might do it again or it might have been a one time thing. If it would happen again, I would get out of the relationship.

Being a woman myself, I know that I can wind my husband up something chronic, especially around a particular time of month, however, I dont believe any time is a good time to hit a woman nor a man ! Violence is a terrible thing, and can lead to a lot of bad things. If you wanna hit something, hit a wall or go into a boxing club. If they have done it once, they will do it again !
