I'll get my alowance at the end of the month and my ps2 controller is dead...so I wanted to buy a new one and wanted to know if I should buy a wireless or just the normal one. Does the wireless one last longer than the normal one? or less? or as long?

From my experiance, wireless controllers do not last as long as the normal controllers. They seem to break easier, or they arent as responsive.

I had a wireless controller for a while and it worked fine. Then my wife got Kingdom Hearts 2 and wore out the triangle button. It sticks real easy now and can mess you up. I went back to using the official controller I got with my PS2 4 years ago and it still works like a dream.

It does last as long. I have a Logitech Wireless controller and it works as well as any other controller. It may be 40 bucks but you get a lot for the value. I totally recommend getting that over any other cheap wireless controller.

I would advise going for a wired and offical, original controller, unless you're in exceptional circumstances and NEED a wireless one. All wireless controllers are third party (ie: not offical Dualshock 2's), so sometimes have badly places buttons and are generally less comfortable then the Dualshock 2.
