I drove to Ljubljana from Austria last year, during the summer, and I loved it. It's a beautiful little country and they're putting a lot of time and effort into beefing up their tourism offerings--and they've got plenty to offer. Slovenia has lakes, Alps, coastline on the Adriatic, little villages, forests, adventure sports, shopping... much the same that its immediate neighbors offer, but at a lower price and with far few tourists. It remains one of my favorite places I've been to so far in Europe and I highly recommend it to anyone!

Yeah. Just got back from Slovenia. It was surprisingly wonderful. Lots of outdoor stuff to do and the people are friendly. Škocjanske Jame, a cave listed as a UNESCO site, is incredible.
