Hmmn I think kids at school used to soak them in vinegar and then dry them out, or boil them. then you'd either coat them in PVA glue over and over, and let it dry, or varnish it, perhaps with clear nail varnish. I mean, it's technically cheating, but it makes your game last longer if you've both prepared the same way!

They did this one on Brainiac. The winner was the "Last Year's winner", ie not messed with, just a proven track record. The runner up was (I think) the one soaked in handcream overnight - the softness made it bouncier, I think.
