Yup,what the first lady said,he had to kill the Phoenix,Jean Gray told him to cause she knew the power Phoenix had and could destroy the world,she killed Cyclops and the professor.

I don't know dude, that whole film was a bit messed up, professor x didn't even say hi to the Juggernaut, I'm sure they're meant to be brothers or related in some other way, but no mention in the film

he had to do it, she wanted him to kill her bcoz there was no way she could stop her self (the evil phoenix) from destroying even those she cared about.
He had to help her defeat herself by killing her
even though he loved her he had to do that so the evil phoenix would not kill them all
