If I don't know a person well, I take what that person is saying at face value. To do otherwise, I think shows unnecessary, undeserved suspicion.

If I know a person well, then maybe, I know when he is being honest and when he is putting on act and I can judge accordingly how to respond to this behavior.

Perhaps the view of taking people at face value shows innocence and trust in human nature and the view that people are putting on an act shows suspicion, distrust, and cynical view of human nature.

As people we always make assumptions based on lots of things
Sometimes someones face reminds us of someone else,

They also say that people show the side of themselves in which they think is hiding.

i think its about trust issues with people, because we have all been effected by someone that has broken our trust,so we tend to assume etc.

At face value, as well as heart value, feet and hands, organs, bones and all other component values. We are what we do, say and believe. Any contradictions likewise are part of who we are.

that depends on the nature of your contact with an individual.if you only have limited involvement you probably wii take them at face value,if you have more exposure that will determine your decision.
