Since this is now done by the council I think you should phone your local offices and see what they say.

It was required for you to get an entertainment liecense and now I think it is even more strict.

I am a guitar Vocalist and all the venues I work at must have an entertainment licence which is a new thing because being a single live singer didn't need one but karaoke is classed as a band because so many people sing!

Get propper advice from the council.

yes you do

i used to run a pub and decided to hold regualar karoke nights without a license, it worked out great for a while until i got busted by the feds.

they took my house, my money, my hair, everything

now i am homeless and any money i am able to get hold of, i spend at internet cafes, answering your questions and stop people falling into the same trap

Only if your customers join in, which seems highly unlikely.

I would definitely find somewhere else to eat if this happened in a restaurant I frequent.

Probably if you are in the UK! Mind you if you do that anywhere near me you are likely to see the World Land Speed Record broken - on foot!

Yes you need a sanity liscence for allowing Kareoke on your premises. Dont do it!
