The email came from serv@megaman.com. I have no idea of its authenticity as it did not come from yahoo team. It said the file is to prevent my computer from sending worm copies to other computers and to restore my computer by eliminating the virus.

Do not download the file. Just because the name of the file sounds like an XP update/patch, doesn't mean it is. I guess I don't have to tell you how easy it is to rename a file to whatever you want.
Any security updates can be downloaded from the microsoft site itself, and for any other worm/virus protection, install and anti-virus, and update it from its home page.

DO NOT RUN THE FILE
The file name seems to be equal for Windows XP update files but they are coming from Microsoft Site. Not from any other methods. And those people don’t e-mail them. We have to download or an on-line validation must be performed. This is clearly a virus. Use a good Anti-Virus program and scan your computer and the file you mentioned. I’m 100% sure that it’s a virus!

No do not open and run any exe files from some one you do not know. Rather do not even run an exe from some one you know. It is not safe. you can go to symantec's site to get virus removal tools.
