How do you compare guitar solo's. I think the quality of the solo depends on so much. If it's really melodic and fits well with the song, like a Carlos Santana or Slash solo, then it's good, but at the same time, when Jimmy Hendrix or Eddie Van Halen explode into a fast random mix of riffs and leads, it too is also amazing. So how do you compare them? I just think it's hard to compare solo's with so little to go off of. Give me more criteria and I'll answer.

I'd have to say Message of Love by Jimi Hendrix at the Isle of Wight. Hardly a day goes by without it going through my head.

There are too many answers possible!
But I can only answer with my favorite -- Prince.
"Lady Cab Driver"
"Purple Rain"
"Gett Off"
"Bambi"... and hundreds of others I can't think of right now!
Of course it would be silly of me to leave out Clapton, Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan, etc... but I just prefer a different music genre!
