When the spanish inquisition began in 1480/81, if you were a muslim living in southern spain, and you decided to leave the country, where would you go?
Probably across Gibraltar, but after that, where would you go? What city? How would you get there? Would you even go over Gibraltar at all?

Here is a handful of cities you can go to:
In Morocco: Tangiers, Tetouan, Rabat, Fes, Casablanca, Kouribga, Safi, Marrakech
If you don't like Morroco you could always travel further into North Africa and go to Oran, Algers, Constantine, Annaba, Tunis, Sfax, Tripoli, Bangazi, Alexandria, and/or Cairo. I skipped alot of other cities but the point is there were and are many cities you could go to. No worries I am glad to help you see that.

In the Christian year 1481 AD a Spanish Muslim would probably end up in Morocco. You might go to Gibraltar, as a stopover. But many of those that left Spain ended up in Northern Africa.

Three options:
1- Those who could leave, took refuge in neighbouring North African Muslim empires.
2- Those who could not leave ( HIstorically majority of people in any population can not migrate that easily as usually thought ) would convert to christianity for fear of not being killed.
3- Few of those should have gone to Pope Benedict to help reminding him of historical truth that it was church before seperation of state and church who inflicated unprovoked wars (crusades) on other religions, forcefully convert helpless people to christanity, religiouly persecuted Jews and Muslims in Europe!!
Anyone who seeks truth can go to internet and research these facts from unbiased christian historian writings.

More than likely I would go to the Waling walls (I think thats how its spelled) But I would just get the hell up out of Europe because it wasn't just Spain, It was France, Italy, etc.
