Because he lied. This was just another lie to justify to war to the American people. Just like all of the other lies the Bushies told, and the rest of us believed.

I heard Jody williams (Nobel Peace Prize Winner 1997) quote a US government source on BBC world debate program, saying that the cost of the war was $10 Billion a month!!! Madness.

I doubt he cared. He just wanted to make Halliburton, his cronies, and himself very, very rich.

That US taxpayers and future generations will pay for it is irrelevant.
