It depends on what the password is for.
Have you thought about checking your old emails (inbox or deleted items), it was probably sent to you.
Most websites have an option for lost passwords. Simply click on it and they will either ask you a security question or send the password to your email account. If all else fails, just create a new account.

If it was a screensaver password, just reboot the computer. When it comes back on go to Control Panel and disable the password setting.
