No, for several reasons.
1. The one administering the punishment could seriously injure the student.

2. The student receiving the punishment might just respond by beating the hell out of the person administering the punishment.

3. Violence is never a solution to converting another to your way of thinking or behaving.

4. Schools, the places where we learn how to communicate through words, should practice that art and work with offenders to change their behavior.

5. Teachers and administrators OUGHT to be better equipped with training and practice to avoid violence in all school related problems.

6. Teachers and administrators should be models of proper behavior. Physical punishment results in very poor modeling.

Physical punishment should never be allowed in school especially from secondary school onwards as such punishment would inevitably destroy a student self esteem.
and incure long term damage. Look at the senseless killings in some schools recently. Could it have some relationship to physical punishment in their schools?. No good would come from such punishment. We are now in
the 21st. century not in a medieval age.

alot of times you might think because of the old ways..they would say all that kid needs is a good whoopen..well now days our children do not respond to that..i think it is better to install in a child abilities and ways to handle different situations so when they get older they know and understand what to do..spanking them will only teach them they did wrong,or can make them mad.. and then what do they do after that..to me that punishment is to short, and doesn't teach anything..

As a child i may not do it again but what do i really think i would need to understand why i didn't need to do something before i could actually say oh ya i get it..some kids are like this so with each kid it works different you just have to find a nit-ch and what they understand

So maybe i would go for more communication with parents, teachers, and kids...even tho it could be a hard rode if the kid feels loved and cared about and has to work somethings out on his/her own that is one more thing to help them in their life..

No. It should not be allowed. This could lead to much more violence in schools and as authorities are humans just like us, this can lead to abuse.
