You Limey bastards can't even take a piss without the USA's permission. I think Tony Blair proves that.

Geography, history & culture help dictate Citizens. With that said, I both agree & disagree with you. Yes it is a danger when we close our ears & minds to our WW2 allies.
Kindly remember every Empire is hated...
Great Britain was hated when they had The controlling empire.
As Americans we tend to have a "can do" attitude. That can lead to over confidence. Being blessed with our geography-food/water etc, also leads to over confidence. That is not always a bad thing.
Without this brashness, of which British authors so fondly wrote about per WW2 memoirs...where would you be today?
Remember the British Army was in full retreat.
It was Hitlers reluctance to crush the what, 200,000+? stranded soldiers in Dunkirk that saved the British Army. German tanks could have easily wiped out a large part of the British Army there.
Americans are a great people. We have heart, soul & enthusiasm. Like the youngest sibling of a family, sometimes we tend to act quick before analysing everying.
Having Great Britian's ear & advice helps. Having read some history, I know how important 1,000s of years of culture is. England
and most especially Europe have had the privilege of being closer together geographically. This has forced Citizens there to learn more about each other. And to perhaps
have more of an open mind towards other cultures?
Having visited England, I was pleasantly surprised by the warm welcome. Perhaps it was my nature; why I was welcomed by so many friendly.
Maybe I am simple minded; sometimes I don't edit & post/respond too fast. I also forget many facts per WW2. Good luck chap-we still love ya! ;P

The New York Yankees are a Major League Baseball Team. The people of Red Sox Nation (for one) would be very offended as would the fans of the Mets and many other teams would argue that's not true and this is why we play the games. Is there even a British born guy currently in the Major Leagues? LOL
Sorry dude - I know you are trying to make a statement about politics - but seriously we American's don't believe we rule the world even with an Anglo-American alliance as you suggest. Why does your jealousy of the United States warp your world view to think you are a nice guy when you are being so nasty? I am sure you want to be a good guy - but your doing a bad job at it.
Now if you really want to talk baseball - asked questions in the baseball section - I'll try to field a few from you.

The Americans are perfectly capable of governing the world without the UK's help and British attempts to use its 'favorite ally' status to influence American policy have almost never been successful. The only reason the US likes to take Britain along on the ride is so that it can make out that its interference in other countries' business is somehow 'multinational'.

First of all, it isn't our job to govern the world.
I will agree that Tony Blair has been a great friend to the United States. For that I will be eternally grateful, to Tony Blair.
As for the sentiment coming from the general populace of Great Britain these days? I've lost a lot of respect for them. It is a sad day when the people of Great Britain lower themselves to the level of the French.
Lucky for you the United States will always consider Great Britain an ally. If a hostile regime ever decides to invade Great Britain who are you MrNiceGuy going to pray comes to your aid?
Your nickname is MrNiceGuy? Boy, if that isn't a oxyMORON.

Simple... without us simple Yankee's you would have been crushed by the Nazi war machine. That's gratitude for ya.
Sadly the UK has more in common these days with the puzzy French. How the mighty have fallen.

If it wasn't for the US, we'd all be speaking German.
And if it wasn't for the French, you'd all be speaking English.
Don't we all feel better now that we've all made gratuitously stupid and ill educated comments?
