First of all, I do not think that you have wasted your two hours unless there is reason that I do not know of. I believe answering questions is in general a positive activity unless we deliberately do something wrong. For example answering question merely for the sake of raising our score or giving vent to our inordinate emotions etc.

Why do we bother to answer question posed by people we do not even know? The reason is that we are searching. We are searching for new things. For things that are better than ever in our mind and in our world around us. Answering questions has a tremendous potential for doing this. It can help us explore otherwise hidden or latent aspects of our emotional and intellectual selves. I have never felt that I am wasting any of my time unless I am hooked onto wining ten points for best answers and facing disappointment.

To me answering questions here is a unique opportunity of freedom of expression that one hardly finds anywhere else in a realistic world. In a realistic world, arguments can heat up and the essence is lost in personal prejudices. I find this to be very refreshing and exhilarating activity that invokes thought and gives new wonderful ideas for the mind to mull upon. If you do not feel like this that you sure are wasting your time.
