deleted, or quarantined. I sought advice..was going to try to do a scan in safe mode, but downloaded a program called spyware terminator . (Mcafee asked me did I want to "grant access" and I checked yes and then did a scan..it said there was one critical item that I removed.

I then ran two Mcafee scan and both said it was fine..no longer listed the lost file that ciouldn't be quaranteed, etc.
Please answer all four /s below.

1. Does this mean it is gone and I need to do nothing further.

2. Shoud I leave this spyware terminator on there..I currently have McAfee, ad-aware and ewido on the desktop..it won't hurt to have this spyware terminator on there too, will it?

3. It said something like 3 files had been changed or something..when I clicked to look at them and took no action and went back it now said zero instead of 3--these were programs that had "full access"...did I mess anything up?

My recommendation: Do an online scan (assuming you have a DSL connection, it's extremely slow in dial up) through www.housecall.trendmicro.com.

It is possible that the trojan was neutralized but there is no way to be sure.

If you have a robust firewall (such as NIS or Zone Alarm), then you're protected at stage one.
If you have an antivirus (regularly updated), then you're safe at stage two.
If you have at least two anti-malware/adware/spyware scanners, then you're safe at stage 3.

And provided that you use them all.

For all others, it will require your judgment whether the spam emails and their attachments are worth opening... and you can't blame anyone else for that.

hi, perhaps you can try Norton to remove the virus and protect your PC. but you need to pay for the software

i recommand you to use firefox with Google toolbar. firefox can disable all virus to run, because the virus can only run on IE.

besides, firefox can block any any poppus and disable any virus and adware, spyware on webpage, so, firefox is much safer than IE. as you know, most of the virus is spread throught internet and webpage.

firefox is much smaller than IE, so i run faster than IE.

download firefox for free:

Yeah, you may have messed things up.

It probably put them into a virus vault.

Run the scan again.
