Was it successful? I watch the programme, despite having no children myself, and she seems to have some great ideas, but I wondered if anyone actually uses the same techniques in real life?

I've tried it and to be honest it's pathetic! I'd rather deal with what's going on there and then. I find the 'naughty step' all a bit weird. It's like the teacher standing you facing the wall. It's an age old practice that has died out in schools because it wrecks your confidance. Jo Frost doesn't have her own children either and I think she would struggle to practice what she preaches if she was at home with a child 24/7 rather than a few hours a day with a family. It's usually the parent's not the kids at the bottom of the trouble.

I've tried the naughty step on my two year old and it seems to work. She hates being sent for a time out. Also I've tried to calm down the yelling and have tried talking to her at her level and this also works. We don't have as many tantrums as we used to. That's not to say we're perfect but the techniques have definitely improved things.

I haven't tried her techniques, but there's this guy named James Leeman, a behavioral scientist, I think, that advertises on the radio here and says he can stop abbherent behavior in any child within a few minutes. I haven't seen his results either...
