Fe breeze is good, but it is not a neutralizer. Hospitals use neutralizers that take the negative ions out of the air thus also making the smell or odor disappear.

You can't buy them at Wal-Mart and such...you must go to a supply warehouse...like hopital supplys and that's where you will find it. I have a can at home and you can smoke cigarettes all day and spray a few times and the smell is gone. If you burn something on the stove..one spray and it is gone. This is the best stuff, but it is not found for large marketing to the public and I don't know whay, but it just isn't.

This is what u do. First of all, if the room does have windows yes open them to let air pass threw them. U can get Fabreze for the fabric that u cannot wash like sofa cushions or something. If it is in the rub, U can spray it also. Get vinegar but not watered down. Take the vinegar and put in in cup, saucers around the room. Vinegar full strenght sucks the smoke right out of the air. Get the air fresheners that eliminates odor not just cover up. Wash anything that can be from small curtains to bedding. If it cannot use the Fabreze. The vinegar will linger in the air only a little while not more than a couple of hours if that and not strong either because it combating the smoke. U should see some results soon enough. Good Luck with it.

Open the windows, especially on a breezy day. If there is only one window, opent the door, you need a cross-breeze. Use vinegar and water to clean the walls, cigarettes smoke clings to the walls, too and makes the room stink. Get a fabric freshener and spray the cloth surfaces of a room, carpets, too. That will work. Keep the windows open for at least 1 day if the smell isnt that bad, keep the windows open for 2 days if you think it needs it.

The best way is to not smoke in the room in the first place.

You are saying economically so hiring a carpet cleaner to come in and smoke the house is out of the question......
Smoke takes out smoke. However not only do you have the smell which closing off the room (shutting windows, doors etc) and lighting ensince (sp) or other kind of smoke product in the closed room should take care of but you have the "film" of soot that goes along with any kind of smoke. Washing walls, carpet (and sometime replacing pad and sealing floor). Also you need to clean all furniture and other items in the room.
This is what carpet cleaners are good for. When I was in the business I did everything from cleaning carpet to taking out smells to water damage. It might be best for you to just hire someone if you want it done right.
Good luck!

Frebreeze and lots of soap and water. Years ago I used to use TSP. Its real bad for the environment but that stuff killed any smoke residue! I worked for a cleaning service a long time ago and we used it for all the smoke filled houses, its wonderful.
