The proper name for a male goat is a buck, if he is a yearling or under he is a buckling.
If the goat has been castrated (neutered) he is a wether, no matter what age.
The not so proper name for a male goat who can breed is a billy goat.

Male goats are calles billy's ... and if you didn't know the females are nanny's and the babies are kids. I raised goats in both 4-H and FFA for 10 years when I was in school. Goats are a very fun pet to have.

The proper name for an intact male goat is a "buck", or "buckling" if less than a year old. A neutered male goat is called a "wether" no matter what the age. Some people call them "billies". That is kind of an "old school" term and most goat producers prefer "buck".
