WARNING if you do this it will be a pain in the @$$ Trust me I did and lost an old laptop becuse of it

for what reasons? Compaq Presario 2500 is one of the latest model in the market and compatible all around

Go to Compaq, website and look up your problem. You did not really state what exactly you wanted to take apart, ie get to the memory or the hard disk...
if you give more details i may be able to help...or just call compaq tech support.

if you are trying to add memory the bottom of the pc is labeled also for the HD is labeled.....other than that i wouldnt take it apart but there are access screws all over the bottom
