No way. This guy blew any chance of being a first ballot HOF when he broke down like a baby and the senate hearings last year. Frankly I hope baseball will finally take a stand and never put any of these cheaters in the Hall including Bonds.

Weather he used or not is in the air. I don't think we can keep a guy out for probably using HGH or steroids. Plus it would be more disgraceful to be kicked out of the HOF than not voted it.

Now this is why I think he SHOULD be voted in. The man brought fans back to baseball. After the strike, baseball took a hit in it's fan base. When McGuire made his historic run at the Home Run record, fans started watching again. I think that he revived baseball. The Sosa thing just made it a little more interesting. And let's not forget that Luis Gonzalez had a pretty good home run total and kept up with those guys for a while too.

I say unless there is definite proof, He is in on the first ballot

Disagree...and IMO he is a cheater just like Sosa and Bonds and should never be allowed in the HOF....he'll get in tho but not on first ballot...the voting is done by ALOT of old timers who will take into account that he is considered a cheater for they feel players like Mark McGwire take away from the game which they helped build...

Based strictly on what he did on the field, I most certainly believe he should be. Unlike the NFL, MLB does not elect their HOF members based on anything they did off the field.

I don't think McGwire will be a 1st ballot guy, but I believe he should be. I will maintain that steroids & HGH do not make you hit HR's...they just make them go farther.

No way is he voted in on the first ballot.

Take the steroids out of the equation and he is a first ballot guy - not a unanamous first ballot, but nonetheless, he is a first ballot guy.

Now, he will be lucky to be enshrined at all - although his chances are probably bigger than his prune-shrunken testicles.

The only thing that he has are his HRs. His BA. is ridiculously low at .263. Now you look at the steroid issue and you take 50, 75 or 100 HRs and it is a different story. How could he hit 245 HRs in 4 yrs (come on now)?

NFW. Unfortunately for him, his entire career is under the cloud of suspicion as a result of his steriod usage. The baseball writers who vote for induction take that into account and it doesn't look good for Mark. I don't see him, Sosa or Bonds being in the HOF.

I disagree. He has enough of a cloud of suspicion over him over the steroid thing for him to be an automatic shoo-in. He really stuck his foot in his mouth at the Congressional hearing, and will have a hard time living that down.

i don't. in fact, as a cardinal fan for fifty years,i have lost all respect for the man. i think he got cuaght up in something without meaning any harm, but his actions since his playing days speak volumes. if he would come clean, he might deserve consideration, but even then, not first ballot.
